Charles M. Achilles is a professor of Educational Leadership at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, and at Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J. He has extensive experience in researching and evaluating effective schools, served as principal investigator in a 1995 study of teaching in primary classrooms ("Success Starts Small"), and led or contributed to numerous other studies on teaching. He has degrees in Classics (BA), Education (MA), and Educational Administration (EdS, EdD), all from the University of Rochester.
