Madhabi Chatterji is an associate professor in measurement, evaluation, and education and co-director of the Research and Evaluation Initiative of the Campaign for Educational Equity at Teachers College, Columbia University. Her research interests include assessment and evaluation methods, evidence standards and mixed-method designs for gathering scientific evidence on social programs and policies, educational equity, and standards-based educational reforms. Her research has received national and regional recognition though awards from the American Educational Research Association in 2004 (AERA-Division H, 2004-Advances in Research Methodology) and the Florida Educational Research Association (Distinguished Paper Award, 1993). Most recently, Madhabi Chatterji (previously M. Banerji) has received a regional Fulbright Research Scholar award to begin examining gender equity issues in primary education in South Asian nations (2007-08).
Her recent book, titled
Designing and Using Tools for Educational Assessment (Allyn & Bacon, 2003), targets practicing professionals in education and other fields who routinely use tests and assessments for a variety of purposes.
